Kaga-mizuhiki: Kaga Paper Cord Ornament
December 08, 2015Mizuhiki is a bundle of decorative twisted paper cords which has been used by way of ornament in exchanging betrothal gifts. A butterfly made of Japanese paper to decorate spiced sake (the Japanese drink this sake to celebrate New Year's) gave Mr. Soukichi Tsuda、the initiator of Kaga-mizuhiki, a significant hint. And he designed emperor and empress dolls in the early days of the Taishou Era (20c). His dolls established the foundation of later Mizuhiki dolls.
